Metric analysis of Betal Kuashev’s poetry: the specifics of the development of syllabic-tonic meters in the poet’s work

Abstract: The purpose of the article is to study the metrics of lyrical and lyric-epic works of the Kabardin poet-innovator Betal Ibragimovich Kuashev. The main attention is focused on the artistic features of poems, ballads and poems, in particular – the technique of versification. The relevance of the study is due to the need to fill the gap in the study of the specifics of the Kuashev poetic style, issues of the poet’s individual authorship, identifying the variety of artistic means and techniques innovative for national poetry, used by him in different genres. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time the problems of the metric organization of B. Kuashev’s works are considered. In the course of the study, the poetic meters that have received the greatest development in the poet’s lyrics are determined, the mechanisms of their functioning in the context under consideration are identified. Several scientific methods were used in the article, including structural analysis, descriptive and statistical methods, observation, synthesis, etc. The theoretical base of the article includes the works of North Caucasian literary critics, which to some extent address issues relevant to our study: essays and articles by Z.M. Naloev, H.G. Karmokov, L.B. Khavzhokova and others. The results obtained can be used in the study of the history of Adyghe literature, the creative heritage of B. Kuashev, as well as in conducting research in the field of national philology, writing qualifying and other kinds of research papers.
