“Everyone is like his own land…”: the symbolism of man’s connection with the natural world in the poetry of M. Mokaev

Abstract: The article examines the images/symbols of nature in the poetry of M. Mokaev, reveals their functional role, and explores ethnopoetics. The connection of images with the mythological representations of the people is traced. Nature, history, nation, culture and man form a close connection with the small homeland in the poetry of M. Mokaev. It has been established that the symbols of nature are significant in the poetics of M. Mokaev due to the creation and transmission of national flavor, imagery; they play an important ideological and semantic role in the work of the Balkar poet. Symbols of nature act not only as a landscape background, but enter into the very essence of the hero’s world of experiences.
