Models for the development of “Smart Villages” and the technique of their implementation on the territory of the KBR

Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of the possibility of solving the problems of “depopulation” of rural areas and achieving sustainable development through the introduction of “Smart Villages” technologies. A demographic analysis of rural territories of the Russian Federation and, in particular, Kabardino-Balkaria was carried out, the principles of sustainable development and the role of digitalization on the way to its achievement were studied. Detailed attention is paid to the concept of “Smart Village”, with consideration of examples of its implementation and, based on this, determination of its key characteristics. The assessment of rural territories of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic as a potential platform for the implementation of this concept was given. In the article, the authors noted the need to take into account the social, economic, environmental and cultural aspects of territories when implementing the concept of a “Smart Village”.
